In the past decade, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso has transformed the community we call home. From educating future generations of health care leaders to ensuring the health of Borderplex residents, its impact begins HERE in the heart of El Paso.


  • TTUHSC El Paso increased its annual economic impact from $227 million in 2013 to $634.4 million in 2023.

  • Number of future physicians, nurses and biomedical researchers graduated.

  • From 2013 to 2023, TTUHSC El Paso has more than doubled its student body from 424 in 2013 to 855 in 2023.

  • TTUHSC El Paso has endowed all four of its schools - a first for any institution in the Texas Tech University System.

  • Becoming the first federally designated Hispanic-Serving health sciences center on the U.S.-Mexico border, as an institution focused on strengthening programs and educational opportunities for a student body that’s 48% Hispanic.

  • TTUHSC El Paso has educated over 1,100 Hispanic students who have entered the health care workforce locally and across the nation.

  • TTUHSC El Paso has contributed to the 29% increase of physicians in El Paso County.

  • TTUHSC El Paso has contributed to the 45% increase of registered nurses in El Paso County.

  • TTUHSC El Paso has impacted nearly 33,000 patients from 27 West Texas counties by providing life-saving breast and colorectal cancer screenings in underserved communities.

  • TTUHSC El Paso has extended its global footprint over 8,000 miles past county lines with partner universities in Vietnam, Poland, Croatia and Bulgaria.

  • TTUHSC El Paso has expanded access to adolescent mental health care for residents from El Paso to Eagle Pass, an area where more than 200,000 children reside.
